Background Information

The Indo-Swiss Joint Research programme is implemented through an inter-governmental S&T Agreement signed on November 10, 2003, during the State visit of the Swiss President to India. Subsequently an Executive Programme of Cooperation (POC) for the period 2006-09 was concluded during the visit of Hon’ble Minister for S&T and ES to Switzerland during Nov 2006.

The areas chosen by the two sides for cooperation are:-

  1. Information & communication technologies
  2. Material sciences & nanotechnologies
  3. Human health sciences
  4. Sustainable urban development
  5. Renewable energy sources

Modes of Cooperation:-

The funding instruments includes:

  1. Joint Research projects (Basic & Applied Research
  2. Joint workshops and symposia
  3. Joint Research Centres (institutional partnerships)
  4. Joint Utilisation of Advanced Facilities
  5. Research Fellowships
  6. Project based Personnel exchange Programme (PPP)
