Background Information
The Inter Governmental Agreement for cooperation in the field of Science & Technology with Kyrgyzstan was concluded in September 1995. The Department of Science and Technology (DST), Ministry of Science & Technology of India and the Ministry of Science and Technology, Republic of Kyrgyzstan, are the nodal agencies in India and Kyrgyzstan respectively.
Under this Agreement, scientists from India and Kyrgyzstan have been usefully interacting with each other under India-Kyrgyzstan Programme of Cooperation (POC) in Science and Technology. The new Programme of Cooperation for the coming three years is likely to be available shortly.
Areas of Cooperation:
The indicative areas of cooperation would be:
- Biotechnology & Immunology including Agriculture, Pharmaceuticals based on local Herbs and Plant Resources;
- Life Sciences including Molecular Genetics, Bio informatics;
- Development of Medical Instruments and Diagnostic Kits;
- Materials Sciences including Electronic Materials
- Earth Sciences including Geology, Seismology, Studies on Natural Disasters and Glaciology;
- Ecology & Environmental Protection;
- High Altitude Physiology & Medicine;
- Textiles and Specialty Fibres;
- Physics and Mathematics;
- Chemistry and Chemical Technology;
- Information Technology;
