The DST-DAAD Project based Personnel Exchange Programme (PPP) was launched in 1998 through an MOU signed between DST and DAAD, and since then 20 project are being supported each year in the areas of –
- Agricultural, Veterinary and Forestry Sciences;
- Engineering Sciences;
- Geo Sciences;
- Mathematics, Theoretical Computer Sciences and Informatics;
- Medical, Life, Health and Nutritional Sciences;
- Physical, Material and Chemical Sciences.
There is a special emphasis on academic training and specialisation of young scholars/ researchers who are doing their PhD in Indian universities.
The initial duration of the projects is 2 years, which is extendable by one more year depending upon the progress of the project.
Each side (DST and DAAD) after receiving project proposals through a joint call for proposals, technically evaluate the project proposals through their own independent mechanisms and come out with technical grading in the scale 1(highest) and 3 (lowest) and the projects in the top grading from each side are recommended for implementation.
